4 C all purpose flour 1/2 C sugar 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon baking soda 4 teaspoon baking powder 1 egg 1 tablespoon Vegetable oil 2 C raisins 1 1/2 C buttermilk |

| Directions: | ||
| In a large bowl, mix all dry ingredients first. Add raisins and then the liquids. Knead dough slightly on a floured board. Place in a greased and floured cast iron skillet. With the side of your hand, make 2 depressions in the form of a cross on top of the bread. Place in a heated oven at 375 degrees for 15 minutes. Then reduce the temperature to 350 degrees for 45 minutes. |
