1 cup shortening 1 cup white sugar 0.5 cup brown sugar 1 lightly beaten egg 0.5 cup flour 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon cinnamon 0.5 cup instant oats 0.5 cup crushed nuts 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 extra white sugar |

| Directions: | ||
| Cream together shortening and sugars. Add beaten egg. Sift together flour, baking soda and cinnamon. Add this to the creamed sugars. Add oats, nuts and vanilla. Chill 1 hour. Roll into balls. Place on cookie sheet. Using a drinking glass, moisten, dip into sugar and then press cookie balls slightly flat. Bake 350 for 10 minutes. |
